The Kamon website

The work

Charcoal-grilled eel, in a 100-year-old sake brewery.

A landing page that opens with the noren curtain and live charcoal. The menu, three steps to eat it, guest reviews, FAQ, and an illustrated parking map. Our own mail-order shop, e-gifts you can send without knowing an address, a corporate page, seasonal features and a recruiting page — all in one flow, in five languages.

What happened

Design notes

What we decided for this shop.

Color & Type
Ink black and charcoal gold. Shippori Mincho for Japanese, Cormorant Garamond for Latin. The name and headline are set vertically, at the eye level of someone standing before the noren.
Motion
The first screen is the noren and the charcoal fire. Seasonal particles (fresh leaves in June) change the temperature of the air. Motion only where it makes you imagine the smell.
Delivery
Call, Mail order and Access are fixed at the bottom on phones. Five languages: Japanese, English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Korean.
